Introduction

Clara Eleanor "Eli" Clark was born into the Clark family. b. 26 March 1907 in Augusta, Richmond Co., GA the Clarks seemed to have moved quite a bit. Ter and Eli were b. in GA, Margie and Virginia born in Andalusia, Alabama. They were living in Fort Myers when she m. Walter Kenneth Andersen, Sr. in 09 Nov 1926. I don't remember if he was living there also - I guess so if they met and married. But Walter and Eli did return to Macon shortly after the wedding, so maybe not. Walter Kenneth Andersen, Jr.was born in Macon, Bibb Co, GA. on July 25, 1928. I don't know when they moved to Tampa. Maybe around 1939-1940. Eleanor lived in Tampa until her son, Kenneth remarried (Barbara Jahn Powell) and moved to Bradenton and then she followed him down there. Eleanor first married Walter Kenneth Andersen, Sr. (who was born in Denmark) they had 1 child, Walter Kenneth Andersen. Jr. they divorced. then she married Dick Wells. they had no children. both Walter and Dick died before "Eli". Eleanor's parents: Ralph Bernard Clark b. 01 Oct 1880 (Jessup Wayne Co., GA) d. 03 Feb 1945 (Tampa) Information for Ralph's dates and places are from his death certificate and from one of his daughters. He was listed as an accountant on his death certificate. His obituary said that he was an assistant sales manager for Dantzler Lumber and Export Co. of Tampa, FL. He was formerly an assistant manager for the Florida All-Bound Box Co. of Auburndale, FL. He lived in Tampa for 18 years. Ralph was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the Baptist Church. All of Ralph's and Clara's daughters are/were called by their middle name. So, because this page will only allow so much... Eleanor ("Eli") is mistakenly called Clara (her first name). Ralph was buried 05 Feb 1945 Myrtle Hill Cem Clara Elizabeth Smith b. 21 Dec 1876 Baldwin Co., GA d. 23 Feb 1955 (Tampa) Their head stones do not give birth dates because Clara didn't want people to know she was older than he. Clara's death and birth information came from her death certificate and from one of her daughters. The death certificate gives the date of death as Feb. 23, but her daughter gives Feb. 22. Clara and one of her sisters graduated from a college in Milledgeville, Ga and moved to Savannah where they taught in the public schools. Savannah is where she met Ralph and married him. She was buried 24 Feb 1955 Myrtle Hill Cem., Tampa, FL. Her tombstone has no date of birth. She told her daughters that she did not want people to know that she was older than Ralph! the Ralph Clark family lived in Tampa for 18 yrs. He died in 1945 That means they moved there in 1927. Walter and Eleanor m. Nov. 1926 in Ft. Myers. their son, Walter Kenneth Andersen, Jr. was born July 25, 1928 in Macon, GA, so Walter and Eli returned to Macon from Fort Myers just after the wedding.
