She had children Lucina Louise (Shatraw) Harris, Robert Edward Shatraw, William Shatraw, Idella Lorene Houle, Wallace E Shatraw, John E Shatraw, Richard Leo Shatraw, and Loma Ann Lasher. Edith Shatraw died at age 88 years old on September 10, 2006 in Albany.

    Nassau, Rensselaer County, New York. Edith Mae Shatraw, 88, formerly of Rensselaer, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the Teresina House in Albany, where she had been a resident since Dec. 2000. She was born in Burke in Franklin Co., N.Y., and had lived in the capital District most of her life.

In 1918, in the year that Edith Mae Shatraw was born, on November 1, an elevated train on the Brooklyn line of the subway - driven by an inexperienced operator because of a strike - tried to navigate a turn at 30mph. The limit on the curve was 6 mph. The 2nd and 3rd cars of the 5 car wooden train were badly damaged and at least 93 people were killed, making it the deadliest crash in New York subway history.
