Edward Joseph Greagen of Bunyip, Cardinia Shire County, VIC Australia was born in 1906 in Cowleys Creek, Corangamite Shire County to Charlotte Ewena Agnes (Robertson) Greagen and Edward Arthur Greagen. He had siblings Elizabeth Dorothy Greagen, Mary Isabel Greagen, Agnes Veronica Greagen, James Lawrence Greagen, Phillip John Greagen, Stanley Arthur Greagen, Ewen Matthew Greagen, and Patrick Charles Greagen. Edward Greagen married Elizabeth Mary Pitman in 1926, and died at age 60 years old on June 30, 1967 in Bunyip, Cardinia Shire County.

In 1906, in the year that Edward Joseph Greagen was born, abolitionist and suffragette leader Susan B. Anthony died, before women's right to vote nationally was realized (in 1920). She, along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founded the National American Woman Suffrage Association which later became the League of Women Voters. She died at the age of 86 of heart failure and pneumonia in her home in New York.
