Elizabeth Ellen (Bretherton) Slack was born in 1876 to Joseph Bretherton and Ann (Robertson) Bretherton, and had siblings Walter Bretherton, Joseph Bretherton, Francis Reginald Bretherton, John Bretherton, Richard Bartholomew Bretherton, Thomas Bretherton, and Peter Bretherton. She married John Alex Raleigh Slack, and had children Linda Jean (Slack) Ladner, Edna Young, Jack Slack, Roy Slack, Norman Slack, Beryl Stevenson, and Raymond Slack. Elizabeth Slack died at age 65 years old on August 16, 1942 in Thornbury, City of Darebin County, VIC Australia.

Edsall claimed to be going 4.5 mph and Driscoll's death was ruled an "accidental death" after an inquest.
