  • Introduction

    Ella was born Ella May Cook. She married Joseph Dagenais in 1916, in Vallejo, CA. They had two children. Cleo, who died in 1917, and son, Joseph, who died in 1991. She divorced Joseph Dagenais about 1923. Ella married Anthony Moscarella around 1932. She divorced Anthony about 1950, and did not remarry. For many years in the 1950's and 1960's she worked as a hostess at The Blue Angel in Grand Canyon, Arizona. In 1967 she returned to Los Angeles and lived there until 1981 when she moved to San Diego. She died in San Diego on July 17, 1984. Her remains were placed in a small Catholic cemetery in Vallejo, CA.. She has three living grandchildren: Donna Bolch Thompson, Nickie Dagenais Serrano, and Joseph Dagenais, IV. I am the mother of Joseph Dagenais, IV. Ella was a great cook. She made the best chicken and dumplings I've ever tasted.

    Ella died in San Diego in 1984 of natural causes, and her cremains were placed in St. Vincent's Cemetery in Vallejo, California. Her first husband was Josephfa (aka Joseph) Dagenais, who was born in the 1870's in France and moved with his family to Canada. Ella and Joseph had a son, Joseph Dagenais, born 1918. They also had a daughter, Cleo, who died when she was 17 months old in 1917. Ella was briefly married to Albert Roth and later for about 15 years to Tony Moscarella. Ella was divorced from all three husbands. She lived most of her life in California.
