Young Wilmington Couple run away . . .
. . to get married
Girl's Parents Objected As She Was Only 15 Years Old
Unable to secure the consent of the bride's parents to their marriage, Miss Cornelia Bounds, fifteen-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Preston A. Bounds, of No. 908 North Fifth Avenue, and Mr. E. T. Holdon, connected with the Gate City Life Insurance Company of this city, went Saturday afternoon to Supply, where they were married at the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Holdon. The ceremony was performed in the presence of a few friends by Reb. A. W. Clemmons, pastor of Prospect Baptist church.
They young couple took the train from Wilmington to Bolivia, and there an automobile was waiting which took them to Supply where the wedding took place at 7 o'clock. They spent the night at the home of the groom's parents, but returned to Wilmington yesterday afternoon and will take up their residence at 414 North Front street.
Mrs. Bounds, who was reached by telephone last night, stated that her daughter was only fifteen years of age and for that reason she and Mr. Bounds had objected very much to her daughter's marriage. The groom is about 23 years old. His parents did not object to the marriage, it is understood. Up until a late hour last night, the young couple had made no move to secure the forgiveness of the bride's parents.
