Fannie Etta (Payne) Cope was born on September 22, 1869 in Van Buren County, TD United States to Benjamin Wiley Payne, Sr. and Amanda Mae (Thomison) Payne, and had siblings William T. Payne, Oata O'Brien Payne, Frances C. Payne, Joseph Thomas Payne, I, Mary L. Payne, Benjamin Wiley Payne, Jr., Amanda Payne, and Martha Elizabeth (Baker) Hillis. She married James Douglas "J. D." Cope, and had children Benjamin Herman Cope, Sr. and Hallie Pearl "Pearl" (Cope) Byars. Fannie Cope died at age 95 years old on December 8, 1964 in Commerce, Hunt County, TX.
