Gail George Young of Cotopaxi, Fremont County, Colorado United States was born on April 24, 1908 at Lewiston Nez Perce Idaho to Julius Wilson Young and Maude Pearl Price. He had siblings Leo Glenn Young and George W Young. He married Marguerite Christine Young on December 24, 1935 in CaƱon City, Fremont County, and had a child Dortha Gailene Young. Gail Young died at age 88 years old on January 1, 1997, and was buried in January 1997 in Cotopaxi, Fremont County.

In 1908, in the year that Gail George Young was born, a mysterious Siberian explosion leveled over 770 square miles of forest. There were no human casualties. Explanations of the explosion have included a comet, meteorite, natural atomic explosion, or a crashed UFO. Although it is called an impact event - the largest one in recorded earth history - there is no crater and it is widely thought that the explosion was caused by a meteor exploding 3 to 6 miles above the earth.

In 1912, at the age of only 4 years old, Gail was alive when Arizona was admitted to the United States in February (on Valentine's Day). It became the 48th state in the Union. Previously a Spanish - then Mexican - territory, the U.S. paid $15 million dollars for the area in 1848. Arizona was the last of the contiguous states to be admitted to the United States.
