George Frederick Oakley 1856 - 1938

George Frederick Oakley of Donald, Buloke Shire County, VIC Australia was born on June 7, 1856 in Prahran, City of Stonnington County to George Haswell Oakley and Emma Hooker Oakley. He had siblings John Haswell Oakley, Henry Warburton Oakley, Francis William Oakley, Arthur Oakley, Agnes Elisabeth Oakley, Herbert Hill Oakley, and Charles Deveraux Oakley. He married Caroline Charlotte (Keane) Oakley, and had children Francis Henry Haswell Oakley, George Haswell Oakley, Harold Waburton Oakley, Reginald Arthur Oakley, Dorothy MacDonnell ( Oakley, and Violet (Oakley) Draper. George Oakley died at age 82 years old on November 2, 1938 in Donald, Buloke Shire County.

    The Geelong Advertiser, 9 May 1906. PERSONAL. Mr. A. Thompson, formerly of Geelong, has entered into partnership with Mr. G. F. Oakley, a leading solicitor at Donald and Birchip.     The Argus, Melbourne. 5 November 1938. MR. G. F. OAKLEY. The death occured at Donald of Mr. George F. Oakley, aged 82 years. He was the first solicitor in Donald, and was founder of the firm Oakley and Thompson and Co., Donald, Melbourne and Birchip. At the time of his retirement last year he was one of the oldest practising solicitors in Victoria, and was one of the last, if not the last, Wesley collegian enrolled at the opening of the college. Mr. Oakley was the first advocate of the diocese of St. Arnaud, when it was created some years ago. Mr. Oakley is survived by a widow and a family.
