Helen Josephine Sositko was born on January 14, 1915 to parents John Sositko and Bronislawa Rozalia "Bertha Rose" Zlatykanicz.
Her mother, Bertha Rose, was born in Muszyna, Poland on August 12, 1883 and she passed away on June 23, 1951 in Hamilton, Butler, Ohio, USA.
Helen's father John was born on March 5, 1882 in Muszyna, Poland and immigrated to the US arriving on March 11, 1901 at Ellis Island, New York, USA. John came to America on the ship Hannover under the name of Tony Koluski as his name has been unable to find on the ship list. He may have came on another ship or on another date or probably escaped from having to serve in the army for Austria. A story in the family is that John and Bertha found out they were on the same ship but didn't know until they met in America.
John and Bertha married on December 29, 1908 in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio ad left Ohio after they were married. They supposedly had a church wedding elsewhere. They lived in Indiana and Michigan then came back to Ohio in about 1914.
John and Bertha's family's pierogi had a filling of only mashed potatoes and cheese. You boiled the pierogi then pan fry them in butter and onion. A son in law, Fred "Bud" Cook was the first in the family to start pan frying them in bacon grease and onion.
John later passed away on May 11, 1963 in Hamilton, Butler, Ohio, USA.

Helen had 10 siblings, many did not survive. Her siblings were Joseph Sositko (1909-1910), Frank Sositko (1910-1985), Elbert/Albert Sositko (1911-1911), Edward Sositko (1913-1923), Mary Sositko (1916-1984), Geneva Sositko (1917-2013), Jennie "Jean" Sositko (1919-1970), Joseph Sositko (1920-1989), Carl Sositko (1922-1923), and Josephi Sositko (1923-1923).
From about 1921- 1933 she attended St. Joseph's School and Notre Dame High School
in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio USA.

Professional Career
Helen built airplane wings during WWII at Kings Mills, Warren, Ohio, USA from about 1942-1945.
From 1957 to December of 1967 Helen was the head cook at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio USA. She was a good cook and the hair stylist in the family. She would give perms. If someone came to her house to get their hair done she would also cook their favorite meal.
Personal Life & Family
On February 10, 1934 Helen married George Alexander Henry (1904–1966) at St. Joseph's Church in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. The couple had two children together; Mark Eugene "Gene" Henry (1934-2017) and Patricia Ann Henry (1935-1998).
She later re married on May 15, 1946 in Liberty, Union County, Indiana, USA to Fred William "Bud" Cook (1919–1963). Fred and Helen had three daughters together; Terry Ann Cook (born 1948), Michaele Sue Cook (born 1949), and Sherry Lynette Cook (born 1954).
Helen's husbands were half brothers (possibly full brothers) who were 15 years apart in their ages. They had the same mother, Lena Ethel (Tribbey) Henry Cook.
