Bertha was born in 1883 in Muszyna, Poland to Peter and Apolonia (Chmielowska) Zlatykanicz. She married John Sositko in 1908 in Hamilton, Ohio.
Helen married George A. Henry (the son of Lena Tribbey, raised up in Oxford, Ohio and Leroy "Roy" Henry, born in Darrtown, Milford Twp, Butler Co., Ohio) in 1934. Helen married second to Fred W. Cook (George's youngest half brother) in 1946.
Helen talked about her childhood to her daughter, Terry Ann (Cook) Tuttle Bradley. She talked about how she remembers going ice skating with her brothers and sisters on the canal when the canal would freeze over in the winter in Hamilton, Ohio.

1920 World Events
In 1920, in the year that Joseph "Joe" Sositko was born, on November 2, radio station KDKA began broadcasting in Pittsburgh, PA. This was the first commercial radio broadcast in the United States. Westinghouse, a leading manufacturer of radios and the backer of the station, chose the date because of the Presidential election. People liked it because they could hear about the results of the election between Harding and Cox before the morning papers arrived. Four years later, there were 600 commercial stations broadcasting in the U.S.
In 1936, on November 3rd, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was reelected to a second term. He ran against Republican Governor Alf Landon (Kansas), defeating Landon in the popular vote by 60.8% to 36.5%. Vermont and Maine were the only two states in which Landon won. John Nance Garner IV became the Vice-President in this election.
In 1945, on April 12th, Harry S. Truman sworn in as President of the United States at 7p in Washington, D.C. His first term lasted 3 years and 283 days - then he ran for re-election.
In 1956, on May 20th, the U.S. tested the first hydrogen bomb dropped from a plane over Bikini Atoll. Previously, hydrogen bombs had only been tested on the ground. The Atomic Age moved forward.
In 1977, on January 20th, Jimmy Carter became the 39th President of the United States. Running against incumbent Gerald Ford, he won 50.1% of the popular vote to Ford's 48.0%. He was elected to only one term.
