    Based on photos of him as an adult, Henry had dark brown hair and was about 69-70 inches tall. In the opinion of this writer, Henry looked quite a bit like Richard Bryan Leake Jr. (1892-1959). Henry wed before 1930 to Gabrielle d'Harcourt, b. 1900 in France & d. 1984 in Albany County, N.Y. She is buried in Medusa, N.Y. No children via this marriage. Via descent from Prof. Frederic Leake alone, this Henry Sabin Leake is a half first cousin twice removed to this writer.

In 1906, in the year that Henry Sabin Leake Jr. was born, author Upton Sinclair exposed the public-health threat of the meat-packing industry in his book The Jungle. While his intent was to show the lives of exploited lives of immigrants in Chicago and other industrialized cities, most people were horrified by how the meat that ended up on their tables was handled. There was such an outcry that legislation was passed to regulate meat packing. Sinclair said " "I aimed at the public's heart, and by accident I hit it in the stomach."
