    Born Hilda Williams, she had sibling Harry Williams. When she was a teen, she was "Miss Atlanta" and then "Miss United States". As an adult, she was voted one of Gainesville's Ten Best Dressed. Hilda married Edwin W. Peck Sr. on June 7 1940 in Atlanta Georgia. They had children Sherry Peck Davidson and Edwin W Peck. Married 71 years!     From Lohman Funeral Homes Cemeteries & Cremation website: Hilda Williams Peck born October 15 1921 of Daytona Beach Shores passed away unexpectedly on July 4 2011. This beautiful and very gracious lady was a true Southern Belle who was raised in Atlanta GA and attended Girl's High. In 1939 at age 17 she became Miss Atlanta on July 4"" and on Labor Day became Miss United States. During one of her promotional tours to Florence SC she met Edwin W. Peck (also from Atlanta). He was a member of the Jaycees assigned to carry her luggage and told a friend that was the girl he was going to marry. On June 7 1940 they were married in Atlanta and recently celebrated their 71st Anniversary. For many years the Pecks made their home in Gainesville FL where Hilda was a sustaining member of the Gainesville Junior League earned a 500 hour volunteer pin at Alachua General Hospital was a member of the Garden Club loved to play golf and entertain. She was also voted one of Gainesville's Ten Best Dressed. In 1969 Hilda and Ed became pioneers when they developed the first oceanfront condominium in the entire Daytona Beach area and made Daytona their permanent home. Through the years they developed with partners many condominium complexes in this area including Peck Plaza The Ashley The Sherwin The Peninsula The Caribbean The Ormond Heritage and many others. Hilda had a natural talent for decorating and for many years was in charge of decorating the common areas and model condo units while also a sales agent for Peck Realty. Hilda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach and a member of the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club who enjoyed painting and traveling. ln 1975 the Pecks made a trip around the world on the maiden voyage of the QE ll. However the joy of her life was her devoted family who called her ""Mimi"". Left to cherish her memory are her husband Edwin W Peck Sr. her daughter Sherry Peck Davidson and husband Terry her son Edwin W. Peck Jr. five grandchildren Todd Davidson (Michelle) Ashley Davidson Tefft (Clipper) Blake Davidson (Leslie) Taylor Davidson (Katie) and Wyatt Peck III. She also leaves six great-grandchildren Skylar and Brady Davidson Cameron Landon and Grayson Tefft and Lauren Davidson her brother Harry Williams of Soperton GA and many loving nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday July 7th at the Ormond Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service in her honor will be held Friday July 8 2011 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church 118 N Palmetto Ave. Daytona Beach FL with Dr. Bobby Welch officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at the private mausoleum of Swan Lake in Daytona Memorial Park. Donations may be made to American Heart Association.
