He was in a relationship with Virginia Arlene (Phelps) Hendee, and had children Jody Marie (Hendee) Woods, Paul Edwin Hendee, and Stephen Phelps Hendee. Howard Hendee died at age 67 years old on November 10, 1992 in Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida, and was buried in November 1992 at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton.

    Howard Elmer Hendee (or fondly known as Bud) was born in Webster, Monroe County, New York. He joined the Navy during WWII as a photographer. He met his wife, Virginia Arlene Hendee In Washington, D.C. during this time. They moved to Webster, NY where the built their home with the help of the carpenter "Jim". They had three children; Joanne, Paul and Stephen. Howard worked at the Eastman Kodak Company until he retired in 1973. He and Virginia then retired to Bradenton, Florida.

    Howard's Ancestry stems from England as the family came to colonial America in 1640 living in Windham, Connecticut. Later in 1730 moving to Dutchess County, New York, then Rensselaer, New York, then Saratoga, New York an finally in 1810 settling in Penfield, New York which in 1820 became (where they lived) Webster, New York. The family lived there until 1999 when most of the family moved elsewhere in the United States.
