    Janis McLean Ford's parents were Charles WIlliam McLean (1895 - 1984) and Mary Allen (1893 - 1988). She had siblings Roderick, Bruce, and Douglas. When Janis was 5, she was living in Waterville New York with her parents, Charles, 44, and Mary, 46, and siblings Roderick, 20, Bruce, 15, and Douglas, 8. Also in the household was 19 year-old servant, Catherine M. Roberts. Dad Charles was a proprietor of an "undertaking establishment". At age 15, Janis was still living at home in Waterville with her parents and brother Douglas, 15. Dad was still an undertaker. Janis married K. James “Jim” Ford (1932 - 2016) in 1955 in Lansing Michigan and they had four children, eight grandchildren, and at the time of her death, nine great-grandchildren.     The following obituary was published by The Observer-Dispatch from Jun. 7 to Jun. 9, 2010. anis M. Ford Waterville Janis M. Ford, 75, of Ford Rd., passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010, with her family by her side, at the Katherine Lutheran Home. She was born August 1, 1934, in Utica, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Allen McLean. She was a graduate of Waterville Central School and attended Skidmore College. On January 5, 1955, in Lansing, MI, she married K. James Ford. Mrs. Ford was a former Sunday school teacher at the First Presbyterian Church of Waterville, den mother for the Paris Hill Cub Scouts and life guard and swimming instructor for the Waterville Central School summer program. She was also a former member of the Waterville Home Bureau and the Waterville PTA. Janis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was a terrific cook. She is survived by her husband, Jim; four children and their spouses, Ken and Pam Ford of Clinton, Edward and Donna Ford of Waterville, Jeff Ford of Utica, and Mary Kay and Kevin Lloyd of Clinton; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Dr. Roderick and Marilyn McLean of Hilton Head, NC, Douglas and Mary McLean of Tampa, FL, and Eleanor McLean of New Hartford; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew Ford, John and Jill Ford, Jamie and Theresa Ford, Kristy and Rob Cowles, Nicholas and Rachael Ford, Colleen Ford, Amy Lloyd and Tammy Lloyd; nine great-grandchildren, Valorie, Allyson, Olivia, Peyton, AJ, Kylee, Madison, Spencer and Ava; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Bruce McLean. The funeral will be Thursday morning at 10 at Three Steeples United Church, on the green at Paris Hill, with Pastor Ed Townsend officiating. Interment will be in Waterville Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 5-8 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Bryant Wing at the Katherine Lutheran Home for all their wonderful care and compassion shown to Janis over the years.
