Jefferson Harrison Duke of Lacy Lakeview, McLennan County, Texas United States was born on December 27, 1909 in Maysfield, Milam County to Emma D (Little) Duke and William Jesse Duke. He had siblings William Alec Duke Sr., Minnie Lee (Duke) Jordan, Louis Ingram Duke, Emma Sue (Duke) Ford, Bertie Lou (Duke) Watson, Jeannie Ethel (Duke) Kennett, Joe Edmond Duke, and Jessie Evelyn (Duke) Brast. He married Mary Alice (Quinn) Duke on September 2, 1932 in Rosebud, Falls County, TX, and they were married until Jefferson's death on March 25, 1992 in Waco, McLennan County. He had children Donald Harrison Duke, Billy Jack Duke, Edgar Wayne Duke, Bobby Joe Duke Sr, Claude Allen Duke, Alice Janette (Duke) Mears, Larry Gene Duke, Linda Sue (Duke) Howard, and Lesa Ann Duke. Jefferson Duke was buried on March 27, 1992 at Waco Memorial Park in Waco.

  • Introduction

    My Daddy went by the name of J H not his full name. He was named after his grandfather Duke who had Jefferson as his middle. Harrison was his Grandpa Little middle name. ( Though there the name of Jefferson is also on his mother side) It's not fun being in grade school and trying to put his full name on a card that couldn't leave the school room.

    When he was young JH worked for an oil company in Humble Texas. Later he worked on & lived with his family on a farm. When I was around 18 months old we moved into Waco where he was a Milkman at Pure Milk Company. He had a key to customers homes to be able to put milk etc into their fridge.(Mama didn't give a key to the one that came to our house) He had to leave the company as he had to have a heart operation and was ill for years. Later he helped my brother out at his station & even had his own until he had to quit work for good in his 70's.

J.H. Duke loved GOD,his wife Mary Alice & their 9 children! He was a hard worker&provided for us even when he was ill! J.H. and Mary were married close to 60 years when Daddy passed away. Mama was lost without him but it was best that he went first cause it would have been worse on him.
