    In the 1940 federal census, "Gervis" (sic) was age 5 and living with his parents "Garvis S." (sic" and Elizabeth (both 31) in Morris New Jerseay. Also in the household were Eloise (7), Frank (1) and a nurse (Henrietta Falls, age 38), a cook (Esther Brower, age 50) and a waitress (Agnes MacIntyre, age 35). Jervis was in the 1st grade. Father "Garvus: was a sales manager in the Soap Industry. Jervis married Macy Brooks Putnam In 1957 Wedding Announcement At the time of his marriage, Jervis was a Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserve Corps and he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Macy and Jervis had child Henry Lowe Janney, Jervis Janney III, and actress Alison Janney.

Appeared in the Poughkeepsie Journal (Poughkeepsie New York) 06 March 1957, Wed

Miss Macy Brooks Putnam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wilson Putnam, Lawrence, L. I. to Jervis Spencer Janney Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Janney, Cincinnati, Ohio. The Rev J. Reginald Moodey, the rector, officiated. There was a lartge reception at the Rockaway Hunting club, Cedarhurst, LI, afterward. Mrs. Janney was graduated from the Garrison Forest school, Baltimore MD; Bennett Junior college, Millbrook; and in 1956 from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York City. She was introduced to society by her parents at a dinner=dance on September 3, 1952, at the Lawrence Beach club and later that year was a member of the New York Junior Assemblies. After a trip, the couple will live temporarily at Fort Sill, Okla, where the bridegroom will be stationed with the Army.
