John Kenihan Carter of Castlemaine, Mount Alexander Shire County, VIC Australia was born on February 24, 1913 in Castlemaine to Annie Elizabeth Kenihan and Thomas Henry Carter. He had a brother Albert Dennis Carter. He married Margaret Ellen Bohan Carter, and had a child Patricia Joan Carter. John Carter died at age 83 years old in January 1997 in Castlemaine.

In 1913, in the year that John Kenihan Carter was born, Henry Ford installed the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. It had previously taken 12 hours to assemble a whole vehicle - now it took only two hours and 30 minutes! Inspired by the production lines at flour mills, breweries, canneries and industrial bakeries, along with the disassembly of animal carcasses in Chicago’s meat-packing plants, Ford created moving belts for parts and the assembly line was born.

In 1921, he was only 8 years old when the silent film The Sheik, directed by George Melford and starring Rudolph Valentino and Agnes Ayres (also featuring Adolphe Menjou) debuted on October 21st. Critics weren't enthusiastic but the public loved it - in the first few weeks 125,000 people had seen the movie - and it eventually exceeded $1 million in ticket sales. And Rudolph Valentino, an Italian American, became the heartthrob of a female generation.
