John Leake died at age 53 years old on August 13, 1909 in Northampton, Hampshire County, MA, and was buried in August 1909 at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy, Rensselaer County, NY.

    This John Leake was a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. in 1877. A surviving photo of him in the 1870s shows him with dark brown hair and a handsome looking young man where, if he had been born some 20-30 years later and tried to star in the movies as a romantic actor, he would have been given consideration. He had an estate worth over $150,000.00 However, he was a lifelong bachelor.
