John Salmon Jr. was born in 1762 in Virginia United States to John S. Salmon and Susanah (Lewis) Salmon, and had siblings Jane (Salmon) Wood, Elizabeth Salmon, Henry Salmon, Mary (Salmon) McEntire, Winifred (Salmon) Boyd, Robert Charles Salmon, Susannah (Salmon) Bradshaw, Reuben Anderson Salmon, and James Harrison Salmon. John Salmon Jr. died at age 68 years old in 1830.

  • Introduction

    John Salmon was born about 1762 in Halifax County, Virginia. It is not known whom he married; they had two known children. He served as a corporal in the War of 1812; Ancestry states that a Sarah Wilson was collecting pension for her husband, John Salmon (1760-1837). Another listing states that he purchased 141 acres from a Noel & Nancy Burtin in 1827. He died about 1830 in Halifax County, Virginia. One of these two children was John Salmon, who was born in 1790 in Halifax County, Virginia; in Halifax County, Virginia, on December 12, 1822, he married Agnes Torian (born about 1800 in Halifax County, Virginia and died September 7, 1844 in Trigg County, Kentucky), they had seven children and he died August 4, 1855 in Christian County, Kentucky.

John Salmon Jr.
John Salmon Jr. was the son of John Salmon Sr. 1738-1803 John was born abt. 1762 death before 1830 He married a Martha Kidd 1762-1850, I haven't seen where he owned any land in Halifax county. I found the name of his wife in Judgement records at the courthouse in Halifax Co Va. only a few got to look at those documents. I never saw anyone else marry him.
John had a son who was my 3rd great grandfather John Salmon 1790-1855, & Agnes Torian 1800-1844, They sold their land in Halifax Co Va. and moved to Kentucky in 1833 with Agnes Torian's brother and their family, along with the Gee Family. They moved to Trigg Co Ky, John Salmon 1790-1855 took his brother Armstead Salmon, and his family, they also took their mother Martha Kidd, Martha & Agnes are both buried on the old homestead in Trigg Co Ky. I have been to the land and talked to the owner of the land, he knew about where they were buried, it was in a wooded area on the farm.
