John Salmon Sr. was born in 1738 died in 1803, Married Susannah? Could be Harrison, he owned a Water Grist & Saw Mill called the Salmon's Mill Pond in Halifax County, I have been there saw where it was, walked all over his land. He owned over 100 acres at the time of his death. His son James was to get the land after his mother Susannah passed, she did pass in 1806 and James started to sell the land, then he got into debt very badly and lost all the land his farther owned, the Mill, all his furniture, so he and his family moved to Tennessee. John Salmon Sr. was not in the War! He was on the British side of things, He collected the Tithes from people for the Church Of England he did this for 6 months. He was paid with Tobacco,. He did have to go to the Muster meeting, because every well bodied man had to go to the meeting's but John didn't like it they had to pay 4 dollars to cross the Dan River to get to them, so he started a petition to stop the 4 dollar fee. His family came in from England to Conn. to Mass. to New York, and then into Virginia. I have found them all the way back to Cornwall England. His grandfather William Salmon wrote a book on Marriages and Deaths, "The Salmon Records" by William Salmon you can buy it online. Its about all of them in Southold NY,.. John Salmon Sr and his children could read & Write, he taught them well. I researched this family for 20 years, I live close to Halifax Co Va. I met other Salmon/Solomon's from Halifax Co Va. they are all DNA related to me. John Salmon Sr. is a very popular man because everyone thinks he belongs in their family and people get his children wrong all the time. I wish I could give them all what I have learned about them, but they wouldn't believe me. Nancy Ann Salmon Photo of John Salmon John Salmon

Her maiden name has been drawn from my personal records and has yet to be confirmed. One listing suggests her name was Susannah Bomar, born in 1758 in Halifax, Virginia; died in 1808 in Halifax, Virginia. However, the mother of John Salmon (born in 1762) would have to have been born prior to 1744.
