John Sereeveton, Was born in Geelong, Victoria in 1862 to Agnes (preferred name) Whalley (nee) Hume and George Gerald Whalley. John did not marry, preferring the life of a sea trader. He died of Dysentery following a lethal dose of Laudanum, whilst being cared for at Tavuki, Kadavu Island, Fiji supposedly administered by an Indian medical attendant in 1897; John was buried behind the Wesley Methodist Church on the same day of his death July 17,1897. John led a very adventurous life at sea, with the ship he was sailing went down in a server storm over the Astrolabe Reef, Kadavu. He was rescued and bought ashore by Indigenous Fijians; as a result of exposure to the elements he became very ill and ultimately developed Dysentery. He was survived by his sister Rachel Whalley Morey; and two brothers David George Symmers Whalley and Charles Edward Milne Whalley
