    Joseph's father, Roger Greenough, was born in Egerton, Bolton Le Moors, Lancashire, England and emigrated to America before 1850, where he is noted to be living with his family in Stark, Illinois. Joseph's mother, Mary Elizabeth Sabin, was born in August 1835, in New York. Her family were English, and arrived in America sometime in the 1630's.

    Joseph was a miner of 'silver and lead' in Park City, Utah in the 1900 US census. He moved his family to Clearwater, Whatcom Co., WA by 1910 and was employed in a shingle mill. And, by 1920, he was working on his farm in Sumas, Wa.

    The Bellingham Herald, page 10 Feb. 15, 1935 Joseph Greenough, 75, Dies in Clearbrook (Special to the Herald) Lynden, Feb. 15 Illness of several months proved fatal for Joseph Greenough, age 75, for 28 years a resident of the Clearbrook district. Funeral services will be held Sunday from the Knapp and Knapp mortuary at 2pm. Surviving are the widow, five daughters Mrs. Ethel Heiser of Victoria; Mrs. Rhoda Holland of Philadelphia; Mrs. Archie Wight of Everson; Mrs. Ione Dinie of Lynden and Miss Fern Greenough of Clearbrook; three sons, Bryan Greenough of Clearbrook; Ralph Greenough of Bellingham and Ray Greenough, of Aberdeen and eight grandchildren.
