This was Geneva Sositko's First Communion in the spring in about 1925. The family's church was St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. Take notice to the girls with their Dutch Boy haircuts. Bertha was born in 1883 in Muszyna, Poland to Peter and Apolonia (Chmielowska) Zlatykanicz. She married John Sositko in 1908 in Hamilton, Ohio. Helen married George A. Henry (the son of Lena Tribbey, raised up in Oxford, Ohio and Leroy "Roy" Henry, born in Darrtown, Milford Twp, Butler Co., Ohio) in 1934. Helen married second to Fred W. Cook (George's youngest half brother) in 1946. Helen talked about her childhood to her daughter, Terry Ann (Cook) Tuttle Bradley. She talked about how she remembers going ice skating with her brothers and sisters on the canal when the canal would freeze over in the winter in Hamilton, Ohio.

John Sositko with most of his children and their spouses in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio in about 1962. Front Row: Joseph "Joe" Sositko and Jennie (Sositko) Harrison [also known as 'Jean']. Back Row: Pauline (Guyler) Sositko, Mary (Sositko) Ridenour, Helen J. (Sositko) Cook, John Sositko, William "Bill" Harrison and Fred W. "Bud" Cook. The family surname of Sositko was shortened to Sitko for a short time in the 1930's. It's on some of the marriage records. Helen was first married to George Henry. Jennie was first married to Samuel "Sam" Cayse. This photo was most likely taken by Wilbur Ridenour (or one of John Sositko's grandchildren) and it was probably taken on the same day as the photo of John Sositko and his grandchildren from his children in this photo. Helen and Fred Cook's daughter, Terry remembers her parents and her aunts and uncles voting for John F Kennedy for President in 1960 and she remembers them staying awake all night on election night to see if he won the presidency. Helen worked at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. She was the head cook. Mary and Jennie worked at the coffee shop at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. Pauline was a nurse's aid at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. Joe worked at Pillsbury.

Joseph Sositko in the Army in the early 1940's. He was born in 1920 in Hamilton, Ohio. The son of Bertha (Zlatykanicz) and John Sositko. I heard he enlisted in the military service in Indiana but his military record on the internet says he enlisted in Fort Thomas Newport, Kentucky on October 14, 1942. It also says he was born in 1921 but that is incorrect. Joseph "Joe" married Pauline Guyler in 1944.

This is a photo of Frank and his brother, Joseph "Joe" Sositko in about the early 1940's in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. It looks like they are at their parents home. Their nephew, Mark "Gene" Henry said he remembers that the house was not real brick. It was some kind of fake brick siding. He's right because it doesn't have the brick in many other photos.
