Keith Inglis Lardner was born in 1911 in Maryborough, Central Goldfields Shire County, VIC Australia to Albert Thomas "Dick" Lardner and Emily Ada (Coleman) Lardner, and had siblings Joyce Elma (Lardner) Macey, Hector McDonald Lardner, Albert Cyril Lardner, and Emilie Dulcie (Lardner) Routley. Keith Lardner married Ivy (Bray) Lardner, and died at age 67 years old in 1978 in Saint Arnaud, Northern Grampians Shire County.

In 1911, in the year that Keith Inglis Lardner was born, the first use of aircraft as an offensive weapon occurred in the Turkish-Italian War. First used for aerial reconnaissance alone, planes were then used in aerial combat to shoot down recon planes. In World War I, planes and zeppelins evolved for use in bombing.
