Albert Thomas Lardner of Avoc Australia was born in 1882 in Homebush, Pyrenees Shire County, VIC to William Lardner and Margaret (Inglis) Lardner. He had siblings William James Lardner, Frances Elizabeth (Lardner) Harrison, Ebenezer Lardner, John Stafford Lardner, Margaret Maria (Lardner) Grant, Sarah Louisa (Lardner) Brown, Henry Fisher Lardner, and Jane (Lardner) Rowland. He married Emily Ada (Coleman) Lardner, and had children Albert Cyril Lardner, Hector McDonald Lardner, Emilie Dulcie (Lardner) Routley, Keith Inglis Lardner, and Joyce Elma (Lardner) Macey. Albert Lardner died at age 73 years old on March 25, 1956 in Saint Arnaud, Northern Grampians Shire County, Victoria.

LARDNER.- On March 25 ( suddenly ), at St. Arnaud, Albert Thomas ( Dick ), beloved husband of Ada, loved father of Cyril, Hec, Dulce ( Mrs. Routley ), Keith, Jean ( Mrs. Johnston ), Joyce ( Mrs. Macey ), and Shirley ( Mrs. Hoare ). Aged 74 years, late of Homebush and Maryborough. Until the day break and the shadows flee away.

"Criminals, the insane, or any person unable to take care of him or herself" were not allowed in the U.S. according to the Act. It also imposed a "head tax" on non-citizens entering the U.S.

In 1893, when he was just 11 years old, a songbook, called Song Stories for the Kindergarten, was published by sisters Patty and Mildred Hill. One of the songs included in the book was "Good Morning to All" - later the lyrics were changed and it became "Happy Birthday to You".
