Audene Pearson Jan. 10, 1937 - Dec. 1, 2014 Audene Pearson, 77, of Duncan, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Duncan Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Boles officiating, interment will be at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, Texas and arrangements are under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home. There will be a family visitation from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Audene was born Jan. 10, 1937, in Ryan, Oklahoma to Claudine and Mabel (Shelton) Wright, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She attended the Heritage Oaks Nazarene Church, Audene married T. J. Pearson June 8, 1954, in Ryan, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death May 27, 2013. Survivors include sons; T. J. Pearson Jr., of Duncan, and Asa C. Pearson and his wife Patricia, of Duncan; a daughter, Vonda Howard and her husband James, of Edmond; a sister, Concha Shelton, of Henrietta; and a brother, James Wright, of Edmond; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Howard, T. J. Pearson lll, Asa Dean Pearson, Randy Shelton, Roy Dale Shelton and Randy Moore.

In 1937, in the year that Mabel Audene "Audene" (Wright) Pearson was born, on May 6th, the German zeppelin the Hindenburg caught fire and blew up. The Hindenburg was a passenger ship traveling to Frankfurt Germany. It tried to dock in New Jersey, one of the stops, and something went wrong - it blew up. Thirty-six people were killed out of the 97 on board - 13 passengers, 22 crewmen, and one ground worker. The reasons for the explosion are still disputed.
