    The Times-Tribune | Posted May 13, 2010 Maynard (JR) Thomas Jr., age 71, of Woodbine, departed this life Monday, May 10, 2010. The son of the late Maynard and Hazel Carter Thomas, he was a graduate of Lynn Camp High School. Working at various jobs, Maynard owned JR’s Pay Lake, served as magistrate in Knox County for eight years, worked as a plumber and worked at the Hart Funeral Home for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his four children, Frankie Lee Trosper Thomas; one sister, Ruthanna Marie Thomas; three brothers, Herman Gerald Thomas of Gray, Joby Lee Thomas, and Arvil David Thomas of London. Survivors include his wife, Laura Ann Rapier Lightfoot Thomas; two sons, David Earl and Leslie Thomas, and Justin Dwayne Thomas; three daughters, Peggy Sue and Curt Storms, Kathy Lee and Troy Thomas, Melissa Ann and Mike Gray; one stepson, Justin Lightfoot; one stepdaughter, Angie Lightfoot; both of Shelby, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fredia Mae Martin, Wilma Christeen and John Johnson, both of Gray; three brothers, James L. and Mary Thomas of London, Carl Homer and Diana Thomas of Crestline, Ohio, William Paul Thomas of Gray, and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Humfleet and Rev. Heath Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at Dowis Chapel Cemetery, Woodbine, Knox County, Ky. Grandsons will serve as casket bearers. The family of Maynard Thomas Jr. will receive friends after 6 p.m. Friday at the Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master St., Corbin.
