    MT. VERNON — Mildred M. Beckman, 90, of Mt. Vernon, died at 7:34 a.m. Saturday March 19, 2011, at the Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. Mildred was born on Aug. 16, 1920, in Bonnie, a daughter of Albert and Fern (Locher) Hale. She married Virgil Beckman on Jan. 22, 1940, in Paducah, Ky. and he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1978. Mildred was a homemaker and was a member of the Bonnie United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Rozella Hayes and husband Clyde of Bonnie; a grandson, Dale Hayes and wife Mariah of Benton; a granddaughter, Tawnya Adams and husband David of Bonnie; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Young, Maddie Hayes and John Adams; a brother, Bee Hale of Bonnie; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hale, an aunt, Freda Garrett; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Bertram and Marion Hale; and special Aunt Francis Gower. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Revs. Leland Hale and Gary Whipple officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorial may be made to the Bonnie United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home at any time.
