Norris Baker was born in April of 1921 in Lenoir, North Carolina to parents Albert Baker (1891-1962) and Hester Clark (1888-1975). He had siblings Lula, Felix, Sarah, Ina, Viola, Zefora, Beloney, and Elijah Baker. He enlisted on August 20, 1942 in Fort Bragg North Carolina and served in the Army from August 20, 1942 until January 17, 1944. Norris married Fleta Beatrice Gooding (1927-1996) and they had multiple children together.
