Leonard and Olive were married at St. Joseph's Church, Port Melbourne on 7th February, 1942. They lived in Port Melbourne at 67 Albert Street with Olive's Mother, Winifred Josephine Murphy and her sister Veronica Mary Duncan and her husband Lawrence Duncan. Leonard was transported to Darwin for combat training, and subsequently flown to Papua New Guinea, where upon landing they were ambushed by the Japanese.on the 12th January, 1943 - two days after my birth. Apparently no remains of Leonard were found - hence the reference to Panel 3, Port Moresby Memorial.
