Paul Peter Zavotsky 1920 - 1999

Paul Peter Zavotsky was born on June 6, 1920 in Saxton, Bedford County, Pennsylvania United States to Joseph Zavotsky and Margaret (Gembeca) Zavotsky, and had siblings Catherine (Zavotsky) Hackler, Charles Joseph Zavotsky, John Zavotsky, Andrew Bartholomew Zavotsky, Agnes Angelina Holster, and Albert Anthony Zavotsky. He married Carrie Louise Zavotsky on April 26, 1958 in New Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey, and they were married until Carrie's death on May 15, 1992 at St Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick. He had children Theresa Jane O'Leary and Melinda Christine Mitchell. Paul Zavotsky died at age 79 years old on September 5, 1999 at St. Peter's University Hospital 254 Easton Ave., in New Brunswick, Middlesex County, and was buried on September 8, 1999 in New Brunswick.

In 1920, in the year that Paul Peter Zavotsky was born, on January 1, over 6000 people were arrested and put in prison because they were suspected of being communists. . Many had to be released in a few weeks and only 3 guns were found in their homes. The U.S. Department of Justice "red hunt" netted thousands of "radicals" and suspected "communists" and aliens were deported. But the "hunt" ended after Attorney General Palmer forecast a massive radical uprising on May Day and the day passed without incident.
