Rebecca Ruby (Pearce) Fraser of Geelong, Greater Geelong City County, VIC Australia was born in 1862 in Cressy to James Lilley Pearce and Mary Cantwell Pearce. She had siblings John Edwin Pearce, Louisa Pearce Richards, Frances Mary Pearce, James William Pearce, Elizabeth (Pierce) Simpkin, Percy Pearce, Allan Pearce, Alfred Lilley Pierce, William Walton Pearce, and Henry Allan Pearce. She married John Fraser in 1888, and had children John Morris Fraser, Robert James Fraser, Russell Peirce Fraser, and Myrtle Ivy Winifred Fraser. Rebecca Fraser died at age 75 years old on August 31, 1938 in Geelong.

In 1888, at the age of 26 years old, Rebecca was alive when on July 25th, a court stenographer from Salt Lake City - Frank Edward McGurrin - decisively beat the competition in a typing contest in Ohio. He was supposedly the only person who used touch typing and is believed to have invented the method. Touch typing is ubiquitous now - but Frank's win is what convinced everyone that the method was good!
