    Richard "Dick" Lamb, age 85 of Colfax, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Colfax with burial following at Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Colfax or the Colfax Senior Citizens Center. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com. The son of Ichabod and Nellie Lenore (Sargent) Lamb, Richard Bud Lamb was born on March 20, 1926 in Chinook, Montana. Dick graduated from Carlisle High School and then went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Northern Iowa. Dick proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Air Force. On June 3, 1947 Dick was united in marriage with Harriet Hensen in Kansas City, Missouri. Dick was a teacher for 10 years and then sold insurance for 10 years. Dick, along with his wife Harriet, went on to become the owners of Lamb Hardware in Colfax for 22 years until their retirement. Dick had a deep love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was saved on February 11, 1971. His faith was evident in how he lived his life. Dick's testimony helped minister to many people. Dick was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colfax. Those left to honor his memory are his wife Harriet Lamb; four children, Richard Craig (Carol) Lamb of Las Vegas, NV; Jeffrey William (Susan) Lamb of Lincoln, NE; Thomas Allen (Tammy) Lamb of Colfax, IA and Sherri Ann (Jeffrey) Orlich of Colfax, IA; 12 grandchildren: Geoffrey Lamb, Eric Lamb, Erin Hines, James Lamb, Andrew Lamb, Anthony Lamb, Chet Miller, Ryan Lamb, Jennifer Brown, Brandon Lamb, Megan Trotter, and Joshua Danley; 29 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Merle Lamb of Indianola, IA, and many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings: Rev. Glen Lamb, Duane Lamb, Helen Elwell, Maxine Gertsen, Betty Irvine and Phyllis Skipper.
