    The Shepparton Advertiser. Vic. 24th February 1913. Mr. Richard Ellis Prideaux, a very old resident of Katandra, died on Sunday, at about five p.m. The deceased gentleman had been a resident of the district since 1870, and was engaged in farming and grazing pursuits. Mr. Prideaux came to Victoria about 1851, having been born in Cornwall in 1830, and for some little time prior to landing in this State was occupied in sea-faring. He was 82 years of age, and the cause of death was a general breaking up of the system. Mr Prideaux was highly respected throughout the Goulburn Valley, being well-known by those who have lived in the district since the early days of its pioneering. Later residents who had come in contact with the deceased also speak highly of his integrity. The deceased leaves a widow and family of five sons and two daughters. The sons are - R. J. ( Numurkah ), W. J., W. F., R. E., H. H. ( Katandra ) ; and the daughters are Mrs. C. Tate and Mrs. F. Sands ( Katandra ).

PRIDEAUX. - On the 23rd February, at his residence, Katandra, Richard Ellis, beloved husband of the late Ruth Ann Prideaux, both of Cornwall, England, and loved father of John, Walter, William, Rupert and Harold, Mrs. Tate, Mrs. Sands, of Katandra, and the late Mrs. J. Carnie. - Aged 82 years. At rest.
