  • Obituary

This little baby girl was born on September 8 1900 in one of the worse storms in Texas. They didn't live close to the coast but it poured rain for days all over Texas! My great grandmother (Emma T Brown Duke) went into labor while rain poured down the walls and floors. Great Grandfather Jeff Duke had to use a sledgehammer to the fireplace hearth but little water drained. The baby girl was born & lived for a short time & then passed away. The next morning my grandfather Jesse& his brother Luther went to dig a grave for their sister. As they were finished a neighbor told them their mother had passed & they would have to dig their mother a grave. We know it was in Milam County but everyone has passed away that would know about the location of the graves.
