Amelia Marie Floystrop:
"I saw the episode on the ID Network. I was really struck by his energy that he gave off. In spite of having such a terrible and traumatic upbringing he was still able to become an honorable young man. He obviously had a strong inner strength but inspite of all his hardships he gave off a softness that I found to be very comforting. I would have loved the opportunity to have met him in person. I admire his strength and thank him for his service. RIP Joshua , fly high and may you finally be at peace now with your Father."
Tina Rose:
The last words he spoke on the show touched me - I remember Joshua speaking about forgiveness and not allowing it to consume him or control his life. I wanted to hug the young man who is a month younger than my son. Then I saw the memory of him and broke down. I want you to know Josh, you touched many lives and helped others who were having trouble forgiving those who hurt them by sharing your story. Now you and your father will never be touched with evil but love, grace, and joy in Heaven.I hope and pray to make it to Heaven where my oldest son James is and give not only him a hug but the hug I wanted to give you Joshua. Thank you for serving this country, you fought in a war to keep us all free and safe after leaving a home where you almost lost your life in a war you had no control over and where you could have lost your life, you'd rather fight in a war for this country where you could have lost your life in also but knew in this war others had your back and meaning to it. God keep you and bless you, and put a smile on your beautiful face forever and forever is a long, long time.

Rosemary Vorel:
I met Olga when I had a summer job. It was 1978. I had gotten a job as a maid in the Country House Assisted Living in Yorktown Heights. Olga asked if I could be an assistant and come twice a week to help her in and out of the bath and tidy in her room, but also she liked to chat a bit. Some things she shared with me: She claimed she had been the 1st Jewish Opera singer in the NY Opera house. She also claimed to be aunt to Critic Gene Shalit. She told me he was a very wild child. He once rode his tricycle off the roof of his house! Unfortunately, I don't recall less extreme tales she may have told me.
Stanley Buzzelle II:
Ralph was my best friend for many years and sadly he passed recently - On our summer vacation before our senior year in high school, Ralph and I went on a cross-country trip, driving from California to Norfolk Virginia where my older sister and her husband were living. We were supposed to be camping for the summer on the property my parents owned in Arizona mountains. We did send some post cards to our parents and headed east across country to visit my sister and my brother-in-law. We obviously couldn't use the gas cards our parents gave to us and decided that we would siphon gas from government vehicles after those offices closed. It was successful enterprise, and we never took gas from anyone except local government vehicles after those offices were closed for the night.
When we got to my sister's house, my brother-in-law called our parents and advised that he and my sister would watch over us and then send us home. We could now use the gas cards because our parents now knew where we were. after a nice visit, we successfully made our way back to Ventura Calif.
Ralph and I were very best friends for many years after our trip, and I miss him a very, very much and I always will.

Tammy Kerwood:
Time with Tom and Myrtle Tyvand - Tom was married to Myrtle King Tyvand. They had 2 sons, Thomas H. Tyvand Sr. and Courtney Tyvand. I went to school with Tom Jr. I made many trips to their home. I enjoyed joining them for dinner, gardening, wine tasting. Tom was an avid maker of wine. I recall him making grape, red and white, cherry, strawberry and more. He was a veteran and worded for GTE when met him and Myrtlle in 1975. I boarded my horse at their 7 acre property complete with a barn. They loved animals, particularly cats. They had 2 during the 30 plus years I was in tgeir company. They kept them into old age 18 and 16 years. Myrtle was like a do all around everything from splitting wood, smoking salmon, handpainting China and a master chef. She volunteered at Friendshp House, a daycare for children and an early learning center thru kindergarten. Tom's favorite past time was hearing of her daily adventures and wine making he was a wonderful husband and father. He was tall, dark, and handsome. He and Myrtle were full of humor, kindness, intelligent and a picture of a successful marriage. I feel blessed to have been part of it. I loved them and miss them.. They were down to earth and accessible. They were unique respected, well liked and never stayed from who they were. I am better for knowing them. Tom was an outstanding role model for his sons, as was Myrtle. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share a glimpse into their lives.
