Wilfred Maurice Twiddy of Oakl Australia was born in 1895 to Maurice Twiddy and Sophia (White) Twiddy. He had siblings Robert William Twiddy, Maud Maunder Henderson (Twiddy), Elva Beatrice Ford (Twiddy), and Charles Twiddy. He married Freda (Smye) Twiddy, and died at age 84 years old in 1979 in Malvern East, VIC. Wilfred Twiddy was buried on November 22, 1979 at Springvale Botanical Cemetery Princes Hwy, in Springvale.

    Bendigo. Wedderburn. Joined July 28 1915. Private 3962, A.I.F., 5th Battalion, 12th Reinforcement. Unit embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A40 Ceramic, on 23 November 1915. Returned to Australia 28 March 1919. ( records state disembarked Melbourne 14 May 1919). Taken on strength form reinforcements, Serapeum, 22 Feb 1916. Embarked from Alexandria, to join British Expeditionary Forces, England, 25 March. Embarked from City of Chester, to Marseilles, France, 31 March1916. 19th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. Wounded in France ( right knee ) 25 July 1916, sent to Wandsworth hospital, England. Absent without leave, Perham Downs, from 4 Sept to 22 Sept 1916, 10 days detention, forfeiture 29 days pay. Hospitalized, Bulford, Wiltshire, total 116 days, VD, Returned back to 5th Battalion, from 67th Battalion, to France, November 1917. Wounded (Poison Gas), September 2, 1918. Embarked, Southampton, 28 March 1919. Fined 10 days pay for breaking something in Colombo, on way home, 21 April 1919.
