Sophia (White) Twiddy 1864 - 1956

Sophia (White) Twiddy of Mt Korong Australia was born in 1864 to Benjamin White and Martha Ackland White. She had siblings Ann White, Sarah White, Mary White, William James White, John Ackland White, Mable Lillie White, Mary Hawkins, Ann Jackson, and Sarah (White) Jackson. She married Maurice Twiddy, and had children Maud Maunder Henderson (Twiddy), Robert William Twiddy, Elva Beatrice Ford (Twiddy), Wilfred Maurice Twiddy, and Charles Twiddy. Sophia Twiddy died at age 92 years old in 1956 in Wedderburn, VIC.

    Marriage. 1888. TWIDDY - WHITE. On the 15th March, at the residence of the bride's parents, by the Rev. A. S. Houston, Maurice, second eldest son of R. Twiddy, Wedderburn, to Sophia eldest daughter of B. White, Darriwell. Darriwell, Darriwill. Geelong Advertiser 1862. The chairman then put the question of a representative for Darriwill to the meeting, when someone stated that no person, was present from Darriwell. The Ballarat Star.- 1917. DARRIWELL. SOLDIERS WELCOME HOME. The residents of Darriwill and members of the Darriwill Gun Club,welcomed back Private L. C. Boyd in the dining room of the Plough hotel. The Age. Melbourne 1864. THE VINEYARDS OF AUSTRALIA. MR. George Hope the owner of the Darriwill Vineyard is well known in the Western District as one of the pioneer settlers there, in the earliest days of the colony. Racehorse "DARRIWELL" winner of the 1879 Melb. Cup. at odds of 33/1. Jockey--Samuel Cracknell.
