Saloonkeeper Must Answer to the Charge of Manslaughter.

William Dowdle, the wealthy retired farmer, who is alleged to have received his death wounds at the hands of Joseph Koetzle, the Sioux Falls saloonkeeper, who was arrested, died June 14, and the charge of manslaughter placed against Koetzle.

About two weeks ago Dowdle, while creating a disturbance in the saloon in which Koetzle had an interest, after once being ejected from the saloon, returned with several companions. During the scuffle which ensued Koetzle is alleged to have struck Dowdle with a stick of wood, rendering him uncionscious. He was removed to his home and grew rapidly worse until his death. It is said that an enemy of Dowdle kicked him severely while lying on the sidewalk after being carried from the saloon, while others assert that Koetzle was armed also with a knife, and that the dead man's right hand was cut while striving to capture the weapon. It is understood that the wounds caused by the knife are still plainly visible.
