William Wright Williams Jr. was born in 1907 to William Wright Williams Sr. and Lula Estelle (Boatright) Williams, and had siblings Chester Clay Williams, Blanche Williams, Nannie (Williams) Sustare, Harold Thomas Williams, Dennie Carl Williams, and Ward Allison Williams. William Williams died at age 36 years old in 1943.

In 1907, in the year that William Wright Williams Jr. was born, the Monongah coal mining disaster occurred on December 6th, happening at the Fairmont Coal Company’s No. 6 and No. 8 mines.. Over 361 miners were killed. Because there was no breathing apparatus at the time to help rescuers, recovery efforts were greatly hampered. It is considered the worst mining disaster in American history and led to government oversight in mining practices.

In 1919, when he was only 12 years old, on January 6th, President Theodore Roosevelt died. Having gone to bed the previous night after being treated for breathing problems, the ex-President died in his sleep from a clot that had traveled to his lungs. He was 60. After a simple service, Roosevelt was buried on a hillside overlooking Oyster Bay.
