    Willard 'Bill' D. Anderson Oct. 30, 1928 - Dec. 5, 2007 Willard "Bill" D. Anderson, 79, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 10, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Tom Healey, Hospice of North Iowa Chaplain officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Interment will be held in Henrytown Lutheran Cemetery in Henrytown, Minn. at 3 p.m. today. A gathering of friends and family will be held at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Willard "Bill" Anderson memorial fund. Willard "Bill" Anderson was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Harmony, Minn., the son of Irvin and Ruth (Magnuson) Anderson. Bill graduated from Canton High School in 1946. Bill attended Winona State College for a few years after high school. He joined and served in the Winona National Guard until enlisting in the Army in 1949 and served as a sergeant until being honorably discharged in 1952. He worked for Winona County as an accountant for a few years before moving to Marion, Iowa, from 1966-73 and then moving to Mason City after purchasing the Family Bowl, which he owned and operated in the 1970s. Bill was an avid and talented bowler, who also enjoyed playing cards and golfing. He also liked going fishing on the weekends with his buddies. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Mason City. Bill is survived by his children, Curtis Anderson and wife Paige of Avon, Colo., Sandee Gardner and husband Michael of Warsaw, Mo., Carol Rae Stephenson and husband James of Denver and William "Bill" Anderson and wife Sandy of Olathe, Kan.; grandchildren, Isaac and Aili Anderson, Josh Mercer and Ashlee Gardner; great-grandchildren, Shawn Mercer and Emma Fowler; sisters, Lorraine Peterson and family of Decorah, Iowa, and Nila Klinge and family of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; cousins, Ms. Marie Anderson and family of Rochester, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Vayden Anderson and family of Winona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Ruth Anderson.
