ALEXANDRIA, Ind. — Aaron L. Johnson Jr., 83, went to be with our Lord on April 1, 2011, from his residence following a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 24, 1928, in Edmonson County, Ky., to Aaron L. Johnson Sr. and Audrey (Howell) Johnson, and resided in Alexandria since 1987.

Aaron was a veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a union brick mason by trade.

He was a member of Anderson Baptist Church, where he served his Lord. He was a man of God and went out of his way to tell others about Him. He volunteered many hours at his church. He loved to be outside, especially if it involved yard work. His family was very dear to him.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Betty Faye Johnson; two daughters, Linda Anderson and Sandra (Patrick) Snead; four sisters, Madeline Higgs, Wanda Selby, Joan Griffee and Carol Upton; three grandchildren, Jeremy Stafford, Joshua Wood and Jessica Wood; two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Trinity Speedy; four step-children; and several nieces and nephews.

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Margaret (Brown) Johnson, who died in 1997; and four brothers, Delmond, Billy, Haskell and Johnny Johnson.

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
