A photo of Elizabeth 'Betsy' S Crain Gragg (1806-1894) who married Elisha Perigan Gragg (1805-1874) in 1827 at Culpepper, Virginia. The photo is from the year of her death, age 88. Fortitude Betsy had 7 children between 1828 and 1839 and she out-lived every one of them except the last, James Armenius Gragg (1839-1911). I have birthdates for 5 others, who lived to be 42, 24, 46, 41 and 25. :( I think she had a hard life, to face so much loss. Betsy had 17 siblings (some full, some half), 6 of whom outlived her. Betsy spent most of her life in the Pulaski, Kentucky area .

I've "rescued" an old photograph of one of the children of Mrs. R. S. FITZGEREL which was taken at the Mattern Studio in Frankfort, KY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with the infant in the photograph about 1 year old. Mrs. FITZGEREL'S homestead is noted as being the house east of the School House. Someone has also written "God Bless you Sister" on the front of the photograph. I don't know if this means the baby was a girl or not. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Robert S. FITZGEREL was b. 1868 in Kentucky to parents Richard Henry FITZGEREL (b. 1840) and Mary Jane FITZGERALD (1845-1937) or Mary Patricia OWENS (b. 1848) or Mary F. FITZGEREL. He was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Robert S.; Carry S.; Harriet E.; William T.; and Bascom FITZGEREL, all born between 1868 and 1879. Robert married Annie L. FITZGEREL and they had 5 children including Carrie E. FITZGEREL (1908 or 1909-1995). Census records provide the following detail: 1920 census of Elmville, KY: Robert S. FITZGEREL, age 51, born KY, parents born KY, a Shop Owner Anna L. FITZGEREL, wife, age 29, born KY, parents born KY Carrie FITZGEREL, dau, age 11, born KY Jessie FITZGEREL, son, age 8, born KY Richard FITZGEREL, son, age 6, born KY Joe W. FITZGEREL, son, age 3, born KY Clara F. FITZGEREL, dau, age 5 months, born KY I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that this photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mrs. Emma J. WEGMAN which was taken at the Benjamin Studio in Cincinnati, OH. The photograph was taken in the 1900's with Emma appearing to be in her 30's or 40's at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has also written "Gram" on the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Emma and her family: Emma J. COEN was b. 5 May 1869 in Covington, KY to parents James J. COEN (b. 1837 in Ireland-1875) and Louisa MARKS (1838-d. 1899 in Kentucky). Emma had two siblings from the same parents, Elizabeth Louisa COEN (1872-1898) and Peter Matthew COEN (1874-1953). Her Mother was married previously to Daniel MCCONNELL (b. 1832 in Ireland – d. 1862 in Minnesota) and they had two children, a son Daniel Augistine MCCONNELL (1859-1936); and a daughter Annie MCCONNELL (b. 1862). Emma’s parents were married in Cincinnati, OH in 1866. Emma married Frank Julius WEGMAN (b. 1870 in Kentucky-1954) in 1890 and together they had 6 children including, Manola Elizabeth; Frances Louise; Cyriac James; Lloyd C.; and Norbert Edmund; and Annie WEGMAN. Emma died 2 Feb 1957 in Covington, KY and is buried in the Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, KY.
