AUMSVILLE - Ace D. Johnson born in Floydada Texas on July 16, 1917 to Ben and Sue Johnson, he was the 4th of 5 children.

He married Dorothy Lambert on April 2, 1939 in Norman Oklahoma. They moved to Los Angeles, CA, where their three children were born.

He was employed by Alcoa where he welded on airplanes and made parts for the planes during the War.

After coming to Oregon for a visit he moved his family to Salem where Ace worked for the union Pipe fitting and welding. He retired from Local 290 in the 70's.

He married Shirley Smith in 1965 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in Jefferson, OR for a few years until they made Turner their home until moving to Aumsville in 1980. Shirley preceded him in death in 1998.

Ace enjoyed playing fiddle with anyone that would play with him. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, telling stories, and in his later years, gardening. He had beautiful flowers. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Sublimity, OR.

Ace is survived by three children, Joyce Marlatt of Redmond OR; Dora Morlan (Ron), Aumsville; Ace Johnson (Weltha), Jefferson; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and two great great grand children. A great grandson preceded him in death in 1995. A sister, Clara Guy (Jack) of Pueblo CO which due to her health is unable to attend, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at Restlawn funeral home, 201 Oak Grove Rd NW, Salem OR on September 17th at 1pm.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
