He had siblings Marian Edith (Thayer) Smith, Donald Maxwell Thayer, Evelyn Mae (Thayer) Warren, Helen Elizabeth Thayer, Frederick Richard Thayer, and Georgia Katherine (Thayer) Ellwood. Albert Thayer died at age 68 years old on March 26, 2004 in Raeford, Hoke County, NC, and was buried on July 4, 2005 at Mackinac Island Scattered Ashes, in Mackinac County, MI.
