Almeta was born 21 Mar 1923 in Valier, Franklin Co., Illinois to Wiley Brooks and Maude Elsie (nee Golden) Marrs. She has always spelled her middle name "Merle", however when a copy of her birth certificate recently arrived the name was spelled "Myrle". Surprise!!! Almeta was about a year old when her mother died. She was reared by an aunt and uncle, Nancy Hanks (nee Marrs) and Claude John Simmons, (Mom and Pop to Almeta; Nanny and PeeWee to the community), so many of her school chums probably think of her as a Simmons, from Chirstopher, Franklin Co., Illinois.
Meta passed away 10 Jun 2009 at her home in Plymouth, Wayne Co., Michigan.
