Amy (Swan) Ericson

I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of Amy SWAN ERICSON which was taken at the Rosenquist Studio in Rockford, IL in the early 1900’s. Amy appears to be in her teens or 20’s at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to her name, someone has also written “Cousin” on the photograph. Based on limited research and thanks to an area researcher I was able to gather the following information regarding Amy and her family:

Amy SWAN was b. 1887 to parents August SWAN and Sophia JOHNSON. Amy then married E. Norman ERICSON (1886-1965 – son of Olaf ERICSON and Hattie BLOMBERG) on 6 Jul 1915 in Rockford, IL and together they had a son Roger K. ERICSON b. 19 Jun 1917 in Rockford, IL. Amy died in 1970 and is buried in the Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Rockford, IL. Amy’s son Roger died 14 Oct 2006 in Arlington Heights, IL. Roger’s obituary lists his wife, Jeannette VERSTRATE ERICSON (b. 8 Nov 1921 in Grand Rapids, MI – d. 29 Dec 2014 in Arlington Heights, IL) and children Janna SYLVIA; John DEWITT; Willis DEWITT; and Dianne DEWITT; and grandchildren Jenny POLINSKI and Jessica and Julia DEWITT.

Norman SWAN, son, age 36, born IL, a Wholesale Co. Manager
Amy SWAN, dau, age 22, born IL, a Furniture Co. Bookkeeper

1920 census of Rockford, IL:

E. Norman ERICSON, age 32, born IL, parents born Sweden, a Draftsman
Amy F. ERICSON, wife, age 32, born IL, parents born Sweden, Keeping House
Roger K. ERICSON, son, age 2 years + 6 months, born IL
And living on the same street…
Sophia SWAN, age 72, a widow, to USA 1866, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, Keeping House
Norman C. SWAN, son, age 40, born IL, parents born Sweden, a Billiards Room Clerk

1930 census of Rockford, IL:

E. Norman ERICSON, age 43, married at age 28, born IL, parents born Sweden, a Draftsman at Milling Machine Mfg.
Amy ERICSON, wife, age 42, married at age 27, born IL, parents born Sweden
Roger ERICSON, son, age 12, born IL
Sophia SWAN, Mother-in-law, age 82, a widow, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1864

1940 census of Rockford, IL:

E. Norman ERICSON, age 53, born IL, a Machine Designer
Amy F. ERICSON, wife, age 52, born IL
Roger K. ERICSON, son, age 22, born IL, a Research Work at Machine Shop
