He Married Ethel Byron Chesterman of Richmond,Virginia on June 4, 1902 in Washington, D.C. at the Trinity Chapel.The wedding and honeymoon trip took them from Richmond, Virginia to Washington,D.C., Delaware, Atlantic City and New York City. The couple remained in Richmond and reared four sons: Roscoe Chesterman Johnson, Asa Byron Johnson, Joseph Sherwin Johnson, and Frank David Johnson.
