Barry Timothy Johnson 50, of Battle Creek, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Select Specialties Hospital of Battle Creek. He was born on July 1, 1964 the son of Roy William Johnson and Gloria Jean (Norris) Johnson.

Barry worked for Hoffman Brothers Excavating first as laborer, foreman and later as a consultant. He retired in 2010 but went back to do consultant work.

Barry is survived by his Wife of 30 years - Carla (Grevious) Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan; Two Daughters, LaTisha (Andre Robertson) Johnson and LaBresha (Joseph II) Babcock; Granddaughter, Trinity Babcock; Grandson, Joseph Babcock, III; Sister, Jeanette Umstead; Two Brothers, Roy Johnson and Tommy Johnson; special friend/Brother in Law, Carl Grevious; two special friends Dan Eriksson and Wallace Graham; Three Nephews, Kenny Permelia, William Johnson and Micheal Johnson; Two Nieces, Crya Grevious and Gloria Johnson; a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.

Barry's favorite things were fishing and helping others. He enjoyed cooking and BBQ. His family was his world and he loved to spend time with them.

Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Wednesday October 29th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.

A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday October 30th at 1pm.

Interment will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials tributes may be made to a College Fund for his grandchildren.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
